A Belated New Years

Hey all you lovely people!

Sorry that I have been a bit off the ball for a little while now, but with having a tonne of coursework over the Christmas holidays, it’s been hard to keep track of everything else. But I’m here and I’m back to start getting some more blogs up for you all!

I feel like this new years went past in a bit of a blur and I spent my night, sat in my room, youtube on in the background busy working away on my coursework! My deadline for the module was the 8th of January, so I am going to say that my new years has started a week later than everyone elses. I worked away up to the evening before my deadline and then just crashed in bed until it was time to lug the 4 sketchbooks and portfolio over to uni for hand in and once it was done I couldn’t be happier. Now for the last few days I have begun to sort my self out properly. I have had catch ups with friends, properly unpack after coming back to uni from Christmas and have made a start of having a good sort out off all my stuff in the flat. I decided that with it being a new year I would experiment a bit with my content and have filmed a time-lapse of my make up organisation, is this something that you guys would like to see?

If you saw last years post, I try now to steer away from new year resolutions and instead set my self some goals, which I will share a few of with you now. The first one is to take risks with my career. For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while now you may know that I am study fashion at uni and as part of my course we have the option to add an extra placement year into our degree, with the opportunity to go abroad. I’m not going to give too much away as nothing is set in stone just yet, but I can tell you now that I have some exciting things coming up for September, but need to put myself out there and take a few more risks to confirm the oppurtunity.

I have also set myself a health goal. I have been really good with eating and going to the gym the past couple of years, but one thing I have neglected is drinking water. I want to aim to drink more water this year and for it to get to the end of the year and not even notice how much water  I am making myself drink.

Finally the last goal I will share with you is that I want to declutter my life. Living away from home, and having a fairly big living space at uni, I have accumulated a lot of ‘stuff’ over the past year or so, so much that when I took a load of it home over Christmas, my home bedroom felt claustrophobic with all the stuff in it. I want to try to clear out anything that I don’t need as well as not buy anything unless I do really need it.

I hope that you have all had a great new year and I hope that I can get back to posting every Wednesday for you all. I’m having a bit of a mind block with blog post ideas, so let me know what you want to see in the comments below!

Yours Truly,

Emma x

October/Noveber 2017 – Learning New Things

Wow it has been a busy two months! I was not expecting to be quite this busy but with going into second year of uni and then taking on extra things around uni, i haven’t had a moment to sit down and write! The two months have flown by so fast that I don’t even really know where to start. I guess I’ll begin with the first new thing that happened as I started back at uni… I got glasses! I knew I needed my eyes tested so finally took the plunge and got them done, the outcome being that I need glasses for close up work. I’m still finding it weird getting used to the but I have to say that they are helping and make my eyes fell a lot less tired after using the sewing the machine or my laptop for long periods of time.

Another new thing is that I have got a job at uni. This is a more recent thing and has only happened int he last week or so, but I have become a student ambassador for my faculty. This means that I help out on open days and university events and even get paid for it! My first shift was last week where I took a trip all the way to Manchester for the careers fair. It was a tiring day but great getting to express my love for my course to other people looking to come to coventry university.

As part of out court each year we have to choose an extra module to take part in. Last year my chosen module was Creative thinking in business, this year I decided to go for something even ore different and chose to learn British sign language! I have to say that it has to be the best decision I have made this academic year so far! When I was younger, about 11 in primary school each Friday a group of us would get the chance to go over to Heathlands school, a deaf school in our area. Its one of my most vivid memories from primary school and I use to love icing with the children there. Although back then I hardly new any sign language, we still mangled to find ways to communicate with the children, making it a fun experience for everyone. So when the opportunity came up for me to get to learn BSL at uni, I jumped at the chance. I have to say that when we all arrived to the first class we did freak out a bit and found it harder than expected. Its a small class of us o the course, only 20 students, but what makes it unique is that our tutor is deaf. Now when we realise this on arrival to our first lesson we all suddenly got very nervous, all of us worried about the upcoming weeks of lessons, but I have to say Mariam is amazing. Her lip reading skills are seriously impressive and although not being able to hear anything that we say, she can lip read word for word. This along with her patience, meant that we were quickly able to pick up the langue and now I feel confident having a one to one conversation with her, both of us understanding each other. Its incredible to think ow far I have come with learning it and it’s an experience that I am so grateful for. I would encourage you, that if you ever get the chance, learn even just a little bit for the language and you never know the impact you could have on someones life one day!

I won’t bore you all for much longer, but I will touch on the last new thing that I have been learning… Salsa dancing! Me and one of my course mates decided that we wanted to do something fun with the little time we had to spare and also though that it would be a great way to give us a break from all of our coursework and get us up and out of out studies and workrooms! It has been a fun experience and we have already decided to go back after Christmas to carry on with more classes!

I really hope that I can keep writing for you all, but the next month is going to be just as busy. Within my course, I take a year out where we go on placements. I am currently applying for a placement in Rome and others across London. The process is long and takes time so I will have to work my blog around that for a while. Hopefully I canker a bit of time free to write about my trip to Amsterdam over Christmas and share with you what I get up to.

Yours Truly,

Emma x

August 2017 – Summer days

How is it September already!

The summer has flown by in a blink! But then I guess that’s just what happens when you’re busy! August was such a busy month for me, but I was lucky enough to take 10 days off in the middle, where I got to spend some quality time with friends and my boyfriend. Around working full-time, I haven’t had a lot of time to myself, so knowing I had these 10 days coming up, I was more than excited! I planned in advance how I would spend my time, fitting in a trip to see uni friends, friends from home and then finally spending the last few days with my boyfriend. These days that I spent with him we decided to take a trip into london and then a couple of days later, a trip to Brighton! Both days were amazing! I always love the hustle and bustle in central London. Everywhere you look there is something going on and it’s so easy just to lose yourself in your surroundings. Going to Brighton had to be my favourite day of my time off. Brighton is one of my favourite places. Theres so much to do, from shopping in the centre, to sitting on the beach. Collection vintage keepsakes from the lanes, to eating donuts on the pier! You just can’t be bored! The trip was eventful too with prying seagulls eyeing up our donuts, we tried to keep the hidden, but within moments of taking the first bite… a gigantic seagull landed straight on Chris’ head! It scared the life out of me, but I can say that moment wont be forgotten easily!

As summer draws to an end I am finishing my last week off at work before heading back to uni on the 16th of September. The time has disappeared before my eyes and I can’t help but feel sad that I have not been able to do as much in the time that I had; but that was my choice. I knew working full-time would take it out of me, but being a student, I was keen to earn as much as I could for the upcoming year.

Have you guys started back at school, uni or work? Let me know what you are up to in the comments below!

July 2017 – 100 Followers!

Hey guys,

It’s that time of the month again where I fill you in with a monthly update and what a month it’s been! Sorry its a few days late but it’s here now! I have hit the 100 followers mark! And not only for my blog but my Instagram too! If you haven’t seen my feed check it out here! I want to say a big thank you to you all for the support you have given me over the past 7 months! All the support has made me not give up on blogging. There have been times where the amount of posts have dropped and there has been a lack of content, but knowing you are all out there reading my words and letting me express myself has kept me going! So thank you again!

Outside of my blog, I have been back at home for about a month now and I have started my fourth week of work. It has been crazy busy and I did struggle with the first few weeks. I was so out of routine that being thrown back into 6 days of work a week tired me out, leaving me drained and grumpy. Three and a bit weeks on and I am back into the swing of things. I love staying busy and learning new things each and everyday.

With two months left of summer, I am looking forward to my week off very soon where I hope to be spending some quality time with some of my friends from uni, as well as hopefully having a few days away with my boyfriend! The summer is flying by and I know that I’ll soon blink and it will be that back to uni time. Although I am struggling to fit my blog in around my full-time job at the moment, I am trying my hardest to make it work and hope that I can stay onto of my weekly posts for you all!

What have you been up to over the summer break? Would love to hear from you all!

Yours Truly,

June 2017 – A Lot of Changes

June is over and can I just say… how fast is this year going!

I can’t get over how fast time flys by when your busy! Like always June was a very busy month for me and it had a lot of changes in store. The first big change was me moving! It had got to that time of year where I needed to move out of my uni halls accommodation and I was lucky enough to be able to move straight into my flat for next year! I have been staying here the last month, making the most of the last few weeks of independence before summer and I have fallen in love with this place! Majority of people at uni go into shared houses after staying in halls, but due to some complications I have ended up living by myself. I was worried about it but I love having my own space and knowing how busy I will be with uni next year I think it has worked out for the best. I have been working on a ‘Truth about my first year ar uni’ post where I go into more detail about living situations.

The second major change that I cam across was my boyfriend moving away. After getting a new job he has ended up moving further away from me. It’s a big change for the both of us and it’s still taking some getting used to but we are working hard to still see each other and as the saying goes, distance makes the heart grow fonder and I can say that, although its hard, I can see that this saying is true.

I move back home next week for my full-time summer job so got the business of that to come yet! But I also can’t wait for it!

What have you been up to recently?

I am hoping to do a Q&A at some point over the next month, please leave any questions you have below!

Yours Truly,

Emma x

March/April 2017

Hey Everyone!

I hope all is well with my new 50 followers! I would like to thank all my followers for getting me to the 50 mark. It may not seem like many followers to some but as my blog is still fairly new , it is such an achievement for me!

I sadly missed last months update post due to being incredibly busy with deadlines and can say that I miss these more chatty posts! Now where to start on the past few months… I have been stressed to begin with. I had a deadline in March, another in April and a third and final coming up in just under three weeks time. The work load has been high but I have loved staying busy and being creative! My current project is a Communications module, involving illustration and photography! I have had my on and off days with my work but over all I have been loving it and a few photography posts will be coming up soon, so keep a look out for them!

Like many I had an easter break where I went home for a few weeks. During this time I got the chance to take a trip up to Wales with my family. It was a great escape from everyday life but almost left me more stress as I returned home to even more work! This aside, I did have a good time. It was nice to throw on a raincoat and walking boots and just walk for miles and miles. It also gave me the opportunity to capture some great photography shots of the scenery. I am thinking of featuring these photos in a blog post! I did a post about Cornwall a few months back and was thinking of creating another post along these line.

The next few weeks will be busy with working towards my deadline but once this is out the way its my summer break! From June onwards, I am hoping to start blogging more! I currently try to post every Wednesday afternoon and the odd Sunday with my monthly updates! I want to try and up that to every Wednesday and every Sunday and possibly a third time in the week depending on how that goes! So with that in plan I will give you a peak of the posts to come.. There will be some fashion photography, an exciting make up haul featuring newly released products and what I eat on my cheat day (credit to Chelia from Pink for Days for the suggestion)

What have you been up to in the last month and what have you got planned for the upcoming weeks? Can’t wait to hear from you all!

Yours Truly

February 2017

Stressed… that’s the first word thats pops into my mind when going to write this post. I’m writing this later that what I would have wanted because of the level of stress my head is at right now! February was such a great month but also a crazy busy one too and as I’ve entered March the busy spell has not ended but in fact the opposite! Before I summarize how my month has been I want to firstly say a big thank you to my followers for getting me to the 200 mark on Bloglovin’, I couldn’t be more grateful and secondly a quick apology about my lack and disorder in my posts!

February started on a high with my trip to Paris! After returning from Berlin in January, Paris was what was getting me through my work and when the day came I was filled with excitement. I had such a great time, experiencing many different things while I was away and gave me a nice break to start off the month. The hard work began when I came back from my trip though, with deadlines on consecutive Fridays, meaning I had to up my time spent on my work, resulting in a drop back on my blog. My first deadline was my shoe marketing project, which I received a great grade for and couldn’t be happier about. The other project was done in two weeks and unfortunately I feel is not my best work, researching, designing and making a shirt in two weeks is always a challenge. Now those deadlines are out of the way I have just begun with my Fashion Communication module! Time to draw, draw, draw!

I would love to hear what you have all been up to the last month! Has anyone else had a busy schedule? Let me know below!

Yours Truly,

Emma x
